Mobile Aircraft Weight and Balance Service
We come to you, we bring the scales. Weight and balance measured i.a.w. AC 43.13-1b Ch. 10, Sec 2.

Do you know your aircraft’s real empty weight?

The weight and balance figure in most GA aircraft’s logbook is usually the product of years of estimations and approximations. The standard method of “take the last weight and add/subtract new changes” is prone to significant error.
Without knowing your empty weight, you could be flying overloaded, which can seriously degrade performance. Flying over max weight in a high Density Altitude environment, in particular, can be catastrophic.

Know your actual weight and balance!

For a flat fee, we come to you, we bring the scales, and we weigh your aircraft i.a.w. AC 43.13-1B procedures outlined in Ch. 10, section 2. You’ll get a weight and balance on the spot with a report emailed to you the same day.
Before weighing your aircraft…
- Clear out any items not attached to the airframe; maps, headphones, tool kits, extra oil bottles.
- Have the fuel tanks either completely empty, or completely full (we can subtract out the weight of full fuel, but partial tank weight estimates are inaccurate).
- Have the weight and balance information from your POH handy. We’ll need the datum and arms of fuel tanks and landing gear.
- Tailwheel aircraft will probably require a tail stand, as the proper weighing procedure is to have the aircraft in level flight attitude.
- Weighing inside a hangar space is preferred. A weight can be obtained at an outdoor tiedown only if winds are calm.
- We do not hold A&P privileges, so you will either need to work with your own A&P/IA, or we have an A&P/IA available for an extra fee if you want to enter the W&B report into your logbook.
- Most GA single engine aircraft can be weighed at U42 (South Valley Regional Airport, West Jordan, Utah) for $350. For off-site weighing, there is an additional fee of $1.00 per mile distance (one-way) from U42 . If the aircraft is outside of Utah, additional fees may apply.
